National Development Council (NDC)
The National Development Council (NDC) is widely recognized as the leading provider of training programs for professionals in economic, housing, and community development finance. NDC’s training programs are designed to build the capacity of professionals at all levels and across various sectors, including federal, state, and local governments; national, regional, and neighborhood-based nonprofits; philanthropic foundations; community banking; tax credit syndicators and investors; and legal and accounting firms that support development organizations.
Four decades ago, NDC pioneered the first training program specifically for economic, housing, and community development practitioners. Since then, we have trained over 78,500 individuals in the intricacies of economic and housing development finance.
NDC courses are rigorous, with each course involving the same level of commitment as a typical college course. This includes significant coursework, homework assignments, and for certification programs, a final examination. Participants engage in case studies based on real projects, confronting and solving real-world challenges throughout the process.
Our course instructors are development finance specialists, including experienced community and economic development officials, former bankers, developers, entrepreneurs, and government agency leaders. As active professionals working in communities across the country, they bring practical knowledge and relevant insights to every class, ensuring participants benefit from both theoretical understanding and hands-on expertise.
